    Seminars - 4-6hrs

    The Healthy Kitchen

No matter where we find ourselves, there will always be times when we are not our healthiest. Within this seminar we will look at common spices and foods from a new standpoint. Not just as flavorings or as nutritional aids in diet, but also how they can keep you and your family healthy.
One constant in our new, modern age of shipping is that supermarkets everywhere in the U.S.A. and Canada carry very similar items. So the problem we are faced with is the lack of knowledge of how to utilize them for our benefit. We will be looking, from an historic standpoint, at how our ancestors used what was available to them.

    Backyard Medicine

Have you ever wondered what it was you were killing when you sprayed herbicides all over your lawn? The dandelions and plantains, do they have any reason for being there, other than to frustrate you? Have you ever wanted to know if the flowers you plant might serve a greater purpose other than as just decoration? What about trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals?
Now is your chance to find out if an herb garden or a vegetable garden is the only source of useful plants available to you.

    Plants of the Bible

‘Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth…’ And so God gave man food to eat, spices to flavor, to perfume, and heal. All manner of growing things to help him survive.
Within the time allotted we will look at Biblical references and examine how those instructions might affect us today. ‘To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven…A time to kill, and a time to heal…’

    History of Herbalism

The wise women, the witch doctor, the medicine man: all of these have utilized herbal medicines. The Chinese have been utilizing the same herbal knowledge for over 5,000 years! In India, Ayurvedic practioners were writing medical texts long before the birth of Christ.Together we will trace the use of plants materials as medicine from the earliest records all the way to modern times.

    Speeches - 2 hrs

    Vibrational Healing

Vibrational healing is the use of sound (music), color, and crystals for balancing, harmonizing and healing the body, mind and soul. All things have a vibrational frequency, think of a tuning fork, when struck it produces a sound, it vibrates on a particular frequency, and you can feel the frequency when touching the base of the fork. All matter has that quality, when out of tune, or harmony illness occurs. In singing, when the voices physically present are in perfect harmony additional voices can be perceived in the sound....Peter, Paul and Mary called this phenomena Oh Henry! In healing this achievement of harmony can augment the healing process...creating health and preventing further damage. Ever wonder why hospitals use certain colors on the walls? Or why doctors offices and esp. dentist offices often have aquariums present in the waiting room? Why do stores play certain types of music while you are shopping and not others? How can the new popularity of Feng Shui be explained?

This is an introduction to a healing form whose time has come again.

    Herbs in Modern Medicine

Are you aware of the origins of the medications that are prescribed for you? Are they all developed in laboratories from chemical compounds? Many are actually derived from plants, so join us for a closer look at what is old and what is truly new.

    The Nose Knows – Aromatherapy

Ah, the scent of a rose, the aroma of lavender, the perfume of jasmine…what to do with the smells that assail us? Is there really healing in smell? Dot he olfactory nerves truly influence health? Explore the possibilities in this introduction to Aromatherapy.

    Naturally Menopause

Menopause is not a disorder or a disease. It is a normal part of the aging process for women. It is a rite of passage, not a medical condition always requiring medical intervention and drugs. Come look at the alternatives, from around the world and through the ages.

The Wheel of the Year: Plant Lore

There are twelve months in the year; there are four seasons in the year. There are plants for every season and every month. Some grow for use now, some must be preserved for our later enjoyment…but all have times when they are at their peak of our enjoyment. Think about it…Christmas, Yule Time – cinnamon and pine are common scents for the season…… Halloween, Samhain – apples and clove …..Thanksgiving – pumpkins and allspice……..

    Story Telling

The telling of stories is as old as man himself….they taught proper behavior within society, desired attributes, history and hero worship, they explained the universe and things unknown. It is said that to understand a people, you must understand how they think, and how they think comes through their stories about themselves.
There are traditional story tellers and modern ones, there are old stories and new ones growing up every day, there are ways to tell stories, and ways not to. How do you get the audience on the edge of their seats, how do you make them jump for a bump in the night, how do you get them to believe? Come and explore this wonderful traditional pastime.
